Since its local inception in April 2005, Southern Ohio Crimestoppers (SOCS) has been instrumental in assisting law enforcement in solving crimes ranging from serious felonies to the identification of persons wanted in petty thefts.
Utilizing several methods to report crimes, tipsters give locations of wanted persons, identify suspects and report drug houses. Thousands of dollars have been paid out in rewards by SOCS, always allowing tipsters remain anonymous when they give information.
The purpose of SOCS is to help Law Enforcement in their efforts to reduce crime and make our community safer. Residents of the community are often witnesses to crime and/or are friends, relatives or acquaintances of those that commit them.
SOCS also relies on Social Media and the Internet to pass along information concerning crimes from Law Enforcement to the community. These tools have become vital.
DO NOT REPORT CRIMES IN PROGRESS ON SOCS SOCIAL MEDIA, TEXT OR ONLINE. CALL 911 OR LOCAL POLICE OR SHERIFF.
